How many acupuncture sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies by individual and condition. Some patients experience relief after 3-5 treatments, while chronic conditions may require ongoing sessions. Dr. Lok will create a treatment plan tailored to your needs and adjust based on your response.
Is acupuncture covered by insurance?
Many insurance plans now cover acupuncture for pain management. Our staff will verify your specific coverage when you call to schedule.
Our Medication Policy
At Lok Clinic, we prioritize safe, evidence-based, and holistic care that emphasizes long-term wellness through non-controlled treatment options.
We do not prescribe any controlled substances in the following categories:
- Opioids (narcotic pain medications such as oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, fentanyl, codeine, tramadol, etc.)
- Stimulants (medications commonly used for ADHD or narcolepsy, such as amphetamines, methylphenidate, etc.)
- Benzodiazepines (medications used for anxiety, panic disorders, insomnia, or muscle relaxation, such as alprazolam/Xanax, lorazepam/Ativan, clonazepam/Klonopin, diazepam/Valium, etc.)
- Other depressants/sedatives (including barbiturates like phenobarbital or pentobarbital; non-benzodiazepine hypnotics/”Z-drugs” such as zolpidem/Ambien, eszopiclone/Lunesta, zaleplon/Sonata; and others like GHB or similar agents)
- Hallucinogens (psychedelics or perception-altering substances such as LSD, psilocybin/magic mushrooms, peyote, MDMA/ecstasy, ketamine, when used in this context, etc.)
This policy applies across the practice and is designed to reduce the risk of dependence, tolerance, withdrawal, misuse, and other potential harms, in alignment with current clinical guidelines and safer prescribing standards.
If you are currently using any of these medications or feel they may be related to your treatment goals, we are happy to explore non-controlled alternatives, evidence-based lifestyle interventions, complementary therapies, or appropriate referrals to specialists (such as pain management, psychiatry, sleep medicine, or addiction services) during your consultation.
